It all began with a direct conversation during an episode of Storytime, recorded in the Bologna studios.
On one side, Quiroom, a platform created to tackle a concrete issue in the travel industry: unsold hotel rooms.
On the other, Roxpay, a European fintech company specializing in digital payments, with a strong focus on the operational needs of businesses.
Two different worlds, destined to meet.
Because when travel becomes spontaneous and last-minute, payments also need to be fast, simple, and reliable.
Quiroom was created to address a structural challenge in the hospitality sector: unsold rooms.
A natural phenomenon, but one that can significantly impact hotels’ revenue.
The idea was to build a platform capable of digitalizing the management of unsold inventory, allowing hotels to sell rooms starting seven days before check-in.
At the same time, Quiroom wanted to offer spontaneous travelers a source of inspiration, encouraging short, last-minute trips.
To achieve this, however, a solid payment infrastructure was needed one able to support bookings made just hours before the stay.
This is where Roxpay comes in.
A solution designed to reduce onboarding costs, lower commissions, and ensure fast payouts key elements especially for startups and growing digital platforms.
The collaboration between Roxpay and Quiroom began even before the platform’s official launch.
The goal was clear: to build a payment system capable of managing the entire booking flow.
An infrastructure was developed that now covers needs such as:
card tokenization,
recurring payments,
reservation guarantee charges,
and fast settlement management for accommodation providers.
From the hotels’ perspective, this means reliable and timely payments.
From the platform’s perspective, it means immediate confirmations, a smooth user experience, and full regulatory compliance.
Today, Quiroom works with over 600 active hotels across Italy and has more than 18,000 registered users.
A result made possible also by the ability to offer a booking experience that is simple, fast, and secure.
Hotels joining the platform gain direct access to a community of travelers ready to depart at the last minute.
A real, existing demand that helps concretely reduce the percentage of unsold rooms.
For Roxpay, the collaboration represents a tangible example of how well-designed payment technology can support complex business models, where timing, reliability, and liquidity are critical factors.
Looking ahead, Quiroom aims to strengthen its presence across Italy.
The goal is to become increasingly widespread, going beyond the most well-known destinations and enhancing lesser-known locations rich in potential.
The trend is clear: shorter stays, spread throughout the year, booked in an increasingly flexible and spontaneous way.
An evolution that requires technological tools that are simple, fast, and reliable.
In this scenario, Roxpay continues to be a key technology partner, capable of simplifying both the platform’s internal processes and the experience of end users.
